Getting Started

Welcome to Kinetic Index

Your protocol-accurate fitness assessment platform. Track, compete, improve.

What is the Kinetic Index?

The Kinetic Index (KI) is a single score from 0-7 that measures your overall operational fitness. It combines results from seven fitness categories, each weighted by importance:

Aerobic Power2.4 km run
22%
StrengthPush-ups, pull-ups, lifts
21%
Aerobic Endurance5 km / 8 km runs
15%
PowerSprints, jumps
15%
Muscular EnduranceSit-ups, holds
12%
Anaerobic Capacity400 m / 800 m
10%
MobilityMovement quality
5%

Higher KI = more operationally ready. Level 4+ is considered mission-capable.

How Testing Works

1

Log Your Tests

From the dashboard, select a category, pick a test, and enter your result. Each test has a specific protocol—follow it for accurate levels.

2

Get Your Level (1-7)

Each test result maps to a level from 1 (needs work) to 7 (elite). Levels are based on standardized military fitness benchmarks.

3

Build Your Kinetic Index

Once you have results in 3+ categories within 30 days, your KI is calculated as a weighted average.

4

Track Progress Over Time

The trend charts show how your KI and individual categories evolve month over month.

Pro tip: Start with the 2.4 km run—the foundational test for Aerobic Power (22% of your KI).

8-Week Friend Competition

Challenge your friends to see who can improve their Kinetic Index the most over 8 weeks. Follow this workflow to run a competition with the current app:

Week 1: Baseline

  • Everyone signs up at kineticindex.app
  • Each person logs tests in at least 3 categories
  • Screenshot your Kinetic Index score and share with the group
  • Create a shared spreadsheet or group chat to track starting scores

Weeks 2-7: Train & Log

  • Train to improve your weak categories (check Lowest Category on dashboard)
  • Re-test periodically—your KI uses the last 30 days of data
  • Weekly check-ins: Share current KI in your group chat
  • Focus on high-weight categories for maximum KI impact

Week 8: Final Test

  • Everyone logs a full battery of tests across all 7 categories
  • Screenshot final KI scores
  • Calculate improvement: (Final KI - Starting KI)
  • Winner = biggest improvement (not highest absolute score)

Suggested Stakes

Loser buys dinner, winner picks the workout for a month, or everyone puts $20 in a pot. Keep it fun!
